Alyssandra:
You are about to be TWO years old! It is difficult to
imagine being able to put into words what a joy and blessing you are, but here
goes nothing.
Today you are full of life and love. You are smart as can be
and excited to learn every day. You are physically gifted, not only in your
build, but in your ability. Your smile can make every day a perfect one, for
that moment at minimum. Your laugh is contagious and you think EVERYTHING is
funny, even the things you know you’re not supposed to be doing. You love to
tease your brother, and that is what you find to be most funny. If he says
“don’t touch me”, you gently lay a hand on him and laugh away while you make
him more and more upset. It’s not supposed to be funny to me, but it sure is!
You love your art work.
Friday’s when I pick you up from school you run to your cubby yelling
“my art”, and then you grip it as if everyone is trying to take it back. You
are able to tell me what each piece of paper was supposed to be as well! You’re
actually quite talented at “not even two” years old.
You’re already potty trained! You have been using the potty
since before 18 months old and at 18 months old you would wear a diaper, but
use the potty and stay dry for weeks on end. When we would try to switch you
over into “big girl panties”, you would start having accidents. It was like
panties took away your confidence, but you were so young I didn’t mind keeping
you in diapers! About 2 weeks ago you woke up one morning and “no diaper” when
I went to put it on and have been in panties ever since. I think you have had 2
accidents! I’m so proud of you!
You are a huge helper. If you know someone needs help,
you’re on it! You help clean, you tell brother to eat his food, you tell the
dog to go lay down on her bed, you want to help cook, and anything else that
could be coined as “helping”.
You LOVE chicken. Every time you’re asked what you want to
eat, your response is “chicken”! Morning, noon, night, it doesn’t matter.
You’re started to ask for different foods, but it’s seldom.
When you wake up every morning you are ear to ear smiles.
Sometimes you jump up and grab your hand rail to start jumping as fast as you
can, then throw yourself to your mattress and say “crash”, then jump up and do
it all over again. Once you’re ready to get out of bed you grab your blanket
and all of your stuffed animals (4 total) to “bring your friends”, as you call
them, out of the bed with you. We head straight to the potty and you go on the
toilet, then we get dressed and enjoy one another until it’s time to go to
school. We sit on the patio and eat “yogurt cereal” (cereal with yogurt instead
of milk), or inside with fruit and eggs, which is your other favorite.
Your friends love you at school. When I drop you off they
rush the door saying “Aly”! Sometimes you’re receptive, but most often you want
them to leave you alone so you can warm up to the environment. All of your
teachers comment on how smart you are.
You go to bed every night after a bath and reading books
while asking me for a kiss. When I begin to walk away, you respond “nother one”
(2 year old speak for: another one). This goes on and on for as long as I let
it! When you give me a kiss you grip the back of my head and pull it towards
you in a very loving manner. I love it, which is why I continually give you
“nother one”. I don’t want this phase to end! So, I will give you all the
kisses your little big heart desires until you stop asking me for “nother one”.
If I could sum it up I would have to call you my little ball
of light. You make my life so much brighter on a daily basis with your smile
and cuddles. If I could hang on tight forever, I would. For now, I will enjoy
every snuggle I can get out of you and all of our play time.
